Prismacolor Pencils - Faux Charcoal Technique

Quite awhile ago, I bought a set of Prismacolor colored pencils off the BST forum of SCS and Im finally starting to get the hang of them. I found this tutorial using the pencils and OMS (odorless mineral spirits) from Jen (make sure you check out her blog too, mad coloring skills!). I didn't have OMS so I used baby oil instead which did the blending trick just fine with the pencils.

Here's a close up of my coloring. This stamp is Izzy, from The Greeting Farm Twinkle Tots.

And here's the card:

I tried to keep the layout clean and simple since I wanted my fabulous coloring (ahem!) to be the main focus. The patterned paper is Basic Grey and that adorable little tag is from PTI's Tiny Tags stamp set.

Im entering this card into Mojo Monday's sketch challenge #187

and Farm Fresh challenge Blog's WOW (Which One Wednesday)-No Pink challenge.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Supplies used
Stamps: TGF Twinkle Tots Izzy; PTI's Tiny Tags
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Paper: PTI CS - Kraft; PP - Basic Grey Cappella
Other Stuff: Prismacolor Color Pencils; Baby Oil, PTI Tiny Tags Die, True Black Satin Ribbon, Aqua Mist Vintage Button, Jute Twine

  2. Nadine, your coloring *is* amazing! I love this technique--thank you so much for linking a tutorial. :-) Striking card, perfect for the Mojo sketch as it means the image is really highlighted! P.S. I can't believe there's a "no pink" challenge--I don't know if I could do that, LOL!
