ETA: This is not a crafty post! This is part of a series about my trip to Chicago. I've listed all the posts on a separate page that you can access from the sidebar.
Our last day in Chicago. We went on the Chicago Architectural Foundation boat tour in the morning, shopping in the afternoon, and ended the day with dinner at the hotel. If you were waiting all this time for me to post the last day, thanks for your patience! :0)
This is our guide for the CAF boat tour. He was very informative and shared stories about Chicago that made it much more personal. Great tour. A definite must do when visiting Chicago.
Another picture from the top deck as we're passing by the various buildings. Funny thing, I normally suffer from motion sickness but while sitting on the top deck I was fine. It did get very hot though (there is no shade) and I decided to go below deck with Maria when she wanted to cool down. It was at that point that I got very nauseous and dizzy. So lesson learned. Stay on top!
After the tour we went to Gold Coast Dogs for a Chicago hot dog. It was a little hole-in-the-wall kind of place. Off the beaten tourist path. And it was fabulous! Everything that I expected a Chicago dog to be. My only complaint was that I got just one slice of tomato. On the pictures lining the wall, they showed three tomato slices. I think my Chicago trip would have felt more complete if I had the other two slices.
We don't have a Crate & Barrel in Hawaii so we just had to take this picture to show our friend Treslyn. Who, BTW, is a total loser cuz' she didn't make the trip with us. Love you Treslyn!
Inside shopping. We were thinking of Treslyn the whole time. Love you!
Me & Darth Vader hanging out at the Lego store. (Click on the image to enlarge) Isn't he amazing? That whole store was AMAZING. Lego statues everywhere. I want that job…building huge lego life-sized models. Im qualified. I've got experience playing with my brother's lego sets when we were younger.
This lego guy is sitting on a bench outside of the store. Im cracking up cuz' of Maria's suggestions of where to place my hand.
This is a picture of the Magnificent Mile (the shopping district / avenue). It was packed! It reminded me of Waikiki but not a single Japanese tourist in sight.
Garret's popcorn. Oh my. Heavenly. They make the best caramel popcorn I've ever tasted. A week after I returned, I was still eating stale, soggy caramel popcorn. And no, I didn't share any with the kids. Well ok maybe one. One kernel that is. It was a sad, sad day when I finished the last bag.
We ended the day with dinner at the hotel restaurant, Caliterra Bar & Grille. Filet mignon with pepper sauce, topped with fried onions, and asparagus on the side. Doesn't that sound divine? Did I make you drool? Cuz' Im drooling right now remembering...
I've got more pics to share from the trip and hopefully I'll have them posted before I go on vacation next year. ;oP
Thanks for sharing your fabby pics, Nadine! The one with you and Mr Lego on the bench totally cracks me up!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need to get over to Chicago if not for CHA, just for the popcorn!
