Year of the Tiger

Last night my friend and I took the kids to watch the Chinese New Years festivities at Chinatown.  You can click on any of the image to enlarge.

Parade going by.  I wish you could hear the drums and music playing.  Blogger doesn't let me upload a video! :o(

My daughter Teia and I had front row seats.  I was congratulating myself on finding such a good spot until I realized we were about 10 feet away from the firecrackers!

Smoke everywhere!  Ugh, cough-cough, gasp-gasp.  Not to mention really loud!

This little lion comes to the crowd and "collects" offering in it's mouth.
Teia was a little scared so I had to help her put the money inside the lion's mouth.  Can you see the person inside?
Eh howzit, Mr. Policeman! I like take your picture. Shaka for the camera! Tanks braddah!

Yummy chinese food.  Anyone want boiled peanuts? Only one dollah! Only one dollllaaahhhh!

Chinese snow pretzel.

Little trinkets and souvenirs to buy.

Kung Hee Fat Choy and welcome to the Year of the Tiger!

  5. I used to love those cookies! And yeah, I'd make that little pt on the back too before I realized I would be ten feet away from an exploding firecracker! So glad you had a good time with the kids.

  6. Howzit Nadine? Thanks so much for posting these pictures! What a flashback to childhood. No need for video, I still remember all the noise from the drums and firecrackers. I think my ears are still ringing after all these years. I wondered how your daughter would do with her first "lion" experience. Glad you got to go!
