Hi everyone and happy Saturday! How's your weekend going so far? I woke up this morning feeling crafty so I decided to make a card to enter a few challenges. Love challenges and how it gets my creative juices going!

I had to take this picture early this morning so sorry for the bright spotlight at the top. I tried to crop out as much as I could! |
I started by using this technique from Julie Ebersole where she had a colored panel popped up with dimensionals and then used a diecut outline placed within it. It's hard to tell from my picture but I used the same technique and left the entire diecut as is instead of popping out all the little pieces. The koi fishes are also partially popped off the panel to add dimension but it's hard to tell from this picture. I really need to invest in a better camera...
The color scheme was inspired by Donna Mikasa's card from the TIME OUT challenge. The sentiment is from Avery Elle's Bright Day stamp set and is perfect for this card! The koi fishes are cut from a gold foil chipboard(?) backing I saved from a package of origami paper. I had that in my stash for a couple of years now…I was saving it for the right project. I wish I could find more…it really diecut and impressed well.
Im entering this card into the following challenges:
