The Gallery Idol 2012 girls have put together a fun blog hop with a shaped card theme inspired by PaperCrafts July Gallery Challenge. I knew I wanted to join in as soon as I heard about it (thank Laurie for the FB invite!) and I decided to do a twin popsicle shaped card:
I just love the way this turned out! I've got a little secret to share with you…I have a Silhouette but I STILL have no idea how to use it! So I knew whatever I came up with had to be done by hand or using die-cuts. I ended up just cutting the base out by hand and using my corner rounder and Nesties to give it shape. Used a scallop punch to take a 'bite' out of the corner. You can't tell from this picture but it does open from the side with space inside for a message.
When my son saw the card he thought it'd be even more cool if the card could open in the middle. What a GREAT idea! So I made another card:
This time using the gate-fold technique so it could open in the middle. Unfortunately I finished this card later in the day and didn't have enough natural lighting to use the same photo set-up like the first one.
It occurred to me as I was editing the photo that I should've glued the popsicle sticks BEHIND the card, lol! Oh well!
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a very cool summer!

ReplyDeleteA totally brilliant card! (And I'd so like to have a bite!)
ReplyDeleteI love how you can see the vanilla filling through the bites!
Wonderful use of Grunge me! And your son is right, opening in the middle was a great idea!
Your card is "so cool." :) Love the background for the photography too.

ReplyDeleteTell your son, I do prefer his version:) So, so cute! I love that you used real popsicle sticks! And the grungy swirly designs are a perfect detail! So awesome that you linked up Nadine:)
ReplyDeleteCool card, especially Jacob's version. What do you mean you have a Silhouette you don't use? (Shh. I just bought one, and I haven't played with it either). You have to check out Make-the-Cut (I've been using it for years with my Cricut, but it also works with Silhouette).
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards!! I love the grunge detail! The card would be perfect for a boy!! Thanks for playing along with us!!
ReplyDeleteOh Nadine, this is super cute! Love how you designed this without your electronic cutter! The fun little "bite" out of it was the perfect detail!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so fabulous, Nadine! I love everything about it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I was hoping it would open to the middle.. yay! This is really cool. I would never think to do the cool grunge accents, and making it yourself is over the top!
