Not a Flip Flop Card

Ever since PTI released their adorable stamp set called Flipping Out, I've been wanting it OH.SO.BAD. Except that the set was for flip flops. Aaackkk! Flip flops is a mainland thing. Here in Hawaii we call them slippers or rubbah slippahs. So I held back from buying the set knowing I wouldn't use their punny sentiments.  Then I had this brilliant idea that I'd buy just the dies and not the stamp set…yay me! (Yes I know, Im a ding-dong.)

This slippah card was inspired by my two buddies, Maria and Treslyn. It reminded me of the day we spent on the beach with our slippahs kicked off, toes in the sand, and talking story while working on our tans.

Im entering this card into the following challenge:

CAS-Friday CFC63: Create a Clean and Simple project using lime, aqua, and navy

Paper Playtime Ch#80: Anything Goes

  13. What a fun card Nadine! I couldn't bring myself to buy the stamps either -- for the same reasons. Thought about just getting the dies like you did. This inspires me to add them to my next order. Hope all is well.

  14. oh this is gorgeous! Lets me me drift away and imagine myself there..which I only have a week more to wait till I visit your beautiful country again...all the way from Australia. Thanks for the great idea of just buying the dies, we too have the same problem - we called them 'thongs'... Always loved this set, so now I can order just the dies. THANKS! Cheers Denise

  15. This is just fabulous! I love the way you've mixed patterns on your slippahs, love the sentiment, love the use of three - it's just wonderful :0) Did you use real sand?

I must say that catching just a glimpse of the greenery of Hawaii in your picture gives me happy shivers. I've never been there, but flip flops, real Hawaiian plants, real Hawaiian sand ... I'm aching to see it for myself!
